The
Heart of Historic Route 66
This
historic east-west route that once carried “Okies”
west to greener pastures has been revived. “Get your
kicks on Route 66” is once again the theme song for thousands
of Americans and International visitors. Throughout the year,
Sapulpa plays host to visitors experiencing the nostalgia
and myth of Route 66, affectionately known as the Mother Road.
Sapulpa’s historic downtown district is in the heart
of historic Route 66 and was placed on the National Registry
of Historic Places in 2003. Sapulpa has accomplished
small community distinction just 15 minutes from metropolitan
Tulsa.
