Sapulpa Chamber Celebrates Oklahoma’s Centennial

It is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to advance human progress through an economic, political and social system based on individual freedom, incentive, initiative, opportunity and responsibility. The Chamber encourages the growth of existing industries and businesses while giving all proper assistance to any new firms or individuals seeking to locate in Creek County.

The scope of Chamber activities is unlimited. From economic development to providing up to date information to the community, the Chamber is constantly working for the people of Sapulpa. The priorities of the Chamber are determined by the needs and abilities of the community. This allows the Chamber flexibility in fulfilling the agenda set by the people of Sapulpa. The Chamber is also an information agency maintaining factual data, folders and maps to answer inquiries of all types.

The main objective of the Sapulpa Chamber is to recruit new business and industry to the area and to aid in the expansion of existing business and industry. Its focus is to make Sapulpa the best possible place for our residents to live, work and play.

The Sapulpa Centennial Bison, “Guardian of the Plains”, is a twice life-sized bronze statue will be located approximately 1/2 mile north of Sapulpa, in late August 2007. The bison stands atop a mound, overlooking his treasured Oklahoma plains that flow with native tall-grass and wildflowers. The statue is the result of 5 years of planning by the Sapulpa Areal Chamber of Commerce and it has been designated as one of the official 2007 Oklahoma Centennial projects. The sculptor of the bison is Jim Gilmore who has provided other bronze wildlife statues for Tulsa Riverparks and Natureworks.

The bison statue stands an imposing 12 feet tall, 18 feet long, and is prominent to travelers, day and night, on both the Turner Turnpike and Oklahoma 66. Parking near the statue is accessible from Highway 66. The Oklahoma Centennial Commission partnered with the Pride in Sapulpa committee of the Chamber of Commerce to provide this statue that reflects a piece of our rich Oklahoma heritage.Sapulpa Chamber
